My Makeup Routine

Good morning friends!! Who loves putting on makeup!? I know I do!  I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite products I am currently using! I love the way these products make me look and feel, so I rarely change things up .  I am no makeup artist by any means, but it’s something I enjoy doing.  My skin can be sensitive at times so I try to use products to accommodate that.

Exfoliate

I start off by exfoliating once a week to remove any dead skin with Kylieskin coconut body scrub. I am obsessed with this sugar scrub!! It’s very gentle on my sensitive skin, smells AMAZING, and leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated.

Moisturize and Prime

Before applying my foundation, I moisturize my face with Cerave. I have eczema on my hands, legs, and arms and this moisturizer is great for the rest of the body as well. A tube of this will last a long time! My complexion is naturally red/rosy and this primer is great for reducing redness! If I will be outside that day I will also apply a mineral Sunscreen.

Foundation

Now for the fun stuff! I have a lot of acne scars from my teenage years and kick myself everyday for not listening to my mom when she told me not to pop my pimples, so I take an extra step in covering those babies up!!  I first apply makeup forever full coverage shade 5 on my scars.  Then, with a flat kabuki brush I apply Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation shade Dusk to the rest of my face.  Finally, I take my large powder brush and apply Mac powder in medium golden to set my foundation.

Highlighting and Contour

I have been loving Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in shade light sand. It’s great for hiding dark circles under my eyes and evening out my skin tone. A little goes a long way, so I lightly apply it to the bridge of my nose, half way up the forehead, under both eyes, and above the upper lip with a damp beauty blender. To make my face glow I always reach for Becca Highlighter in Champagne Pop. I have used this product for years and absolutely love it. I apply it to the bridge of my nose and tops of my cheekbones with a fan brush for some extra shine. To shape my face, I use Kat Von D contouring palette. I lightly dab my large angled contouring brush into the shade shadowplay to define my cheekbones and outer part of my face.

Eyebrows

To shape my eyebrows, I first use Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in soft brown then fill in the rest of the eyebrow with Aesthetica Contour Brow kit, using only the powder portion to fill in the gaps.

Eyeshadow

I typically use browns and neutrals for my eyes and will alternate with these colors, but today I used Mac naked launch over the entire lid, Mac Nylon on the lower lid near the lash line and below the eyebrow. Then blended Mac Swiss chocolate and Mac soft brown over the mid-lid/crease. Lastly I blended L’Oreal Eye Shadow #4 on the outer crease of the mid-lid.

Blush

Nars shade Orgasm (where do they come up with these names haha) blush is my all time favorite and have used it for years. This peachy pink color with a gold shimmer looks beautiful, especially after a tan!

Mascara

I prime the upper and lower lashes with L’Oreal Voluminous Base, and then apply Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. This combo really makes the lashes appear longer and who doesn’t love that! I currently am using lash serum to grow and thicken my lashes but that process takes time so for now in photos I wear Kiss pixie eyelashes and they really make my eyes stand out.

Lips

I have been doing the same lip routine since my wedding day, and I am obsessed with this color combo! I first apply Mac creme cup lipstick, then to create an ombre effect I use Nars Turkish Delight Lip gloss over the entire lip and Nars Orgasm in the middle of upper and lower lip.

Before I apply my lip color I use NYX mate finish setting spray to keep everything in place for the entire day. To remove my makeup, I really find Neutrogena makeup remover wipes does a great job, and then I wash my face with First Aid Beauty deep cleanser. Finally, I make sure to wash my makeup brushes frequently to avoid build up of oil, dirt, and bacteria with Sigma brush cleaning glove and liquid cleaner.

Oh heyy! I am so happy you stopped by! I'm Katherine, a fashion and lifestyle blogger sharing all the things I am obsessed with.
